Details:

The cabinet was done up in a walnut veneer and is probably the best looking Advent along with original beveled edges. They could also handle more power and were not as venerable do death from excessive volume. In the upper treble they are slightly clearer than a Mindoro supreme silver/gold which probably explains good spatial information and separation. The cabinet styling was the same for entire line except one special model 5012w, resembled new Advent bluenose but they were all covered in utility vinyl.the 5012 styled exactly after new walnut veneer finish, grill trim.

Featuring terminal leads made from peacock copper oxygen free. They are a little flatter in presentation than their more expensive brother, the silver z-cap but still better clarity cap ESS depth and spatial information. This opened up the top end for Advents that had not previously been possible with older fried egg tweeters. The x002 series introduced something new - a soft dome tweeter.

In direct comparison with a clarity cap ESS they are less up-front in the lower treble and have better texturing of acoustic instruments like violin for example. The dome tweeter was available on all model's except the 1002 and 2002. I am selling these because moving across the country and downsizing, otherwise would never let them go.

The x002 series showed up on the market around 1985. One of my personal all round favourites. Sound: very neutral and coherent balance, they don't seem to high-light anything I mean that in a positive way. Technical specifications according to manufacturer: double foil super pp capacitor featuring extremely high quality German made foil, metabolized with aluminum and zinc particles.

Nitrogen filled instead of dielectric fluid, offering more foil per capacitor and eliminating risk evaporation. These speakers sound great with all music but really shine rock, blues, jazz, classical, acoustic instruments, and voice, the woofers have been reformed amazing again. Compared to the Jansen audio silver z-cap I find them more musical of two.
