45-711A PIONEER Tweeter

The Pioneer 45-711A tweeter series is a collection of high-performance drivers designed to deliver exceptional sound quality for various audio applications. These tweeters come in three different power handling versions: HPM-40, HPM-60, and HPM-100.

The HPM-40 tweeter is the entry-level model in this series, offering a power handling capacity of 40 Watts RMS. It features a 1-inch (25mm) soft dome diaphragm that is lightweight and provides excellent response and clarity. The tweeter's neodymium magnet ensures strong and stable magnetic field, enabling the driver to produce accurate and detailed high frequencies.

The HPM-60 tweeter is the mid-range option in the Pioneer 45-711A series, boasting a power handling capacity of 60 Watts RMS. This tweeter comes with a slightly larger 1-inch (25mm) soft dome diaphragm that offers improved efficiency and increased sound output. The HPM-60 tweeter's neodymium magnet is more powerful than the one in the HPM-40, allowing for better bass response and increased sound quality.

The top-tier model in the Pioneer 45-711A tweeter series is the HPM-100. This high-performance tweeter has a power handling capacity of 100 Watts RMS and features a 1-inch (25mm) soft dome diaphragm. The HPM-100 tweeter's neodymium magnet is the largest and most powerful in the series, ensuring superior sound quality and dynamic range. Its high power handling capability makes it suitable for use in high-power audio systems, delivering detailed and clear high frequencies even at high volume levels.

All three tweeters in the Pioneer 45-711A series are designed with a wide dispersion angle to ensure even sound coverage throughout a listening area. Their smooth frequency response and low distortion ensure accurate and natural-sounding high frequencies, making them ideal for use in home stereo systems, professional sound reinforcement applications, and car audio installations. The Pioneer 45-711A tweeters are built to last, with rugged construction and durable materials that can withstand the rigors of daily use.

The Pioneer 45-711A tweeter series, which includes the HPM-40, HPM-60, and HPM-100 models, are popular choices for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts due to their high-performance specifications and reasonable price points. However, like any audio component, they come with their own set of pros and cons.

Pros:

1. High-Performance Dome Tweeters: The Pioneer 45-711A series utilizes soft dome tweeters, which provide excellent frequency response and dispersion. They are capable of producing clear and detailed high-frequency sound with minimal distortion.

2. Wide Frequency Response: The HPM-40 has a frequency response of 2.2kHz to 40kHz, while the HPM-60 and HPM-100 have a slightly broader response of 1.5kHz to 40kHz. This wide frequency response ensures that the tweeters can handle a wide range of audio content, from music to movies.

3. Power Handling: These tweeters have high power handling capabilities, making them suitable for use in high-power audio systems. The HPM-100, for instance, can handle up to 300 watts RMS.

4. Affordable: Compared to some other high-performance tweeters in the market, the Pioneer 45-711A series is relatively affordable, making them a great option for budget-conscious audiophiles.

Cons:

1. Low Sensitivity: The Pioneer 45-711A tweeters have relatively low sensitivity ratings, which means that they require more power to produce the same volume level as more sensitive tweeters. This can result in higher electricity bills or the need for a more powerful amplifier.

2. Limited Mounting Options: These tweeters come with a fixed mounting design, which may limit their versatility in different installation scenarios. Some users may prefer tweeters with adjustable mounting options for fine-tuning their sound system.

Ending Conclusion:

The Pioneer 45-711A tweeter series offers excellent high-frequency performance, wide frequency response, and high power handling capabilities at an affordable price point. However, their low sensitivity and limited mounting options may be a drawback for some users. Ultimately, the decision to purchase these tweeters depends on your specific audio system requirements and budget.

Recommendation:

If you're looking for high-performance tweeters with excellent clarity and detailed sound at a reasonable price, the Pioneer 45-711A series is an excellent choice. However, if you require a more versatile tweeter with adjustable mounting options or a higher sensitivity rating, you may want to explore other options in the market.

Details:

This looks to be the same tweeter used in HPM-40, HPM-60, HPM-100 speakers maybe hpm-150 too. You can hear it play in the video and see dc resistance of voice coil. This is because of parts sappers, scammers, and others who may put this into their speaker, crank it up, burn out then try to return. You can see it in the photos.

This is tweeter #3 of 3 total that I have. Its in good cosmetic shape and works well. I'm going through some old electronic stuff I have and found 3 Pioneer 45-711A tweeters. The little dome does have a bit of crinkling in the paper.

While this is working properly now, it sold for parts or repair and as-is.
