What they are is some sort of granulated rubber/cork/foam,and make an actual air tight seal for you rear baffle mount guys. A couple things makes this particular driver special aside from it being a Tru Sonic. The copper retains the integrity of details in signal. The response is so accurate, True to signal,that if you slap distortion it and close your eyes,you can envision the shape of incoming waveform in mind.
Frame- this is a thick,heavy duty aluminum frame,with 4 spoke design. See my other listings. Fully tested and operates just peachy. This unit has just that,and the surround was coated with rezone ex,which prolongs life,increases low end response,and dampened cone edge resonances,which helps prevent ghost notes.
The top end sizzles,and has sibilant and air. It really cleans up your tonality. Front gaskets these are what some call Rubik-TeX. Low end is tight,not tubby, the mid range awesome,with fast settling time,accuracy,and a slight wood y/ chime on clean signal.
LTZ wires these are .055 diameter woven copper. Its thick ,so ringing is as low any similar I have ever heard. There are no India made crap,or import China junk in it,but American components. Voice coil this has an aluminum former for high power/ heat dissipation.its radially vented some air exchange and its winding's are pure copper none of that caw crap. Up for grabs is this really rare bird,a Stephens Tru Sonic model fr-120. Dust cap this is a real 4 lip down aluminum dust cap,which the rear was wiped with dampener to prevent that ice pick tonality.
This thing belongs to someone who will use and appreciate it,preferably in a studio/recording set up.
