The Hallicrafters PM-12s is a popular portable AM radio that comes with its own built-in speaker. However, some users may want to enhance the sound quality by adding an extension speaker cabinet. Here are some pros and cons of buying a Hallicrafters PM-12s extension speaker cabinet:

Pros:

1. Improved sound quality: The extension speaker cabinet can provide a fuller and clearer sound, making it ideal for listeners who want a better listening experience.

2. Increased volume: The cabinet can help to amplify the sound, allowing users to listen to the radio at higher volumes without distortion.

3. Portability: The cabinet is designed to be portable, making it easy to carry around and use with the PM-12s radio.

4. Compatibility: The cabinet is specifically designed for the Hallicrafters PM-12s radio, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.

Cons:

1. Additional cost: Buying the extension speaker cabinet will add to the overall cost of the radio system.

2. Size and weight: The cabinet adds to the size and weight of the radio system, making it less portable than the standalone PM-12s.

3. Power source: The cabinet requires a separate power source, which may add to the complexity of setting up and using the system.

Conclusion:

The Hallicrafters PM-12s extension speaker cabinet can provide significant improvements in sound quality and volume for users of the PM-12s radio. However, it comes with some drawbacks, including additional cost, increased size and weight, and the need for a separate power source. Ultimately, the decision to buy the extension speaker cabinet depends on the user's preferences and priorities.

Recommendation:

If you are a PM-12s user who values superior sound quality and volume, the extension speaker cabinet may be a worthwhile investment. However, if you prioritize portability and simplicity, you may prefer to stick with the built-in speaker of the radio. Before making a decision, consider your budget, listening preferences, and the convenience factors of using the extension cabinet.
